Get the scoop

Find out what the media has been saying about the top proposal to replace the god-awful tax code we currently have in this country.

  • Do you realize how making this post hurts your cause? Any reasonable person will automatically ignore the partisan sites and go to CNN or such.

From reading CNN, this is what I get.
Several years ago, when I was working and my wife was in grad school, we routinely paid 3K in fed taxes. Under 'fair tax' we would've paid at least 1500 more.
Last year, when I was in grad school and my wife was working, we paid 6K. Under 'fair tax' we would've paid about the same. 2K more if rent (not mortgage) is taxed.
Several years from now, we will probably be paying 15K in taxes. Under 'fair tax' it would only be about 12K.

Is it fair that the rich pay less and the poor pay more. I don't think so.
What about families? They would wind up paying more in taxes than child-less couples. Do you neo-cons want that?
Hey, if you're rich don't worry about having to file any paperwork. If you're poor, then too bad, here's the stack, start writing!

  • Actually, I forgot my tuition reduction, so last year, under 'fair tax' I would've paid 1000 to 1500 more.
